One Ton Cup - IC45 World Championship - One Ton Cup :Forget pronostics, suspens is the key |
SAINT TROPEZ, FRA-(11-10-2002) Last day will be decisive : you can't forecast anything in this regatta at any stage, it's something we are really sure of now. Races are taking place one after another, and none of them looks like the same, and here is all the huge interest in this One Ton Cup here in Saint-Tropez. In fact, from one race to another, firsts in a race go back at the bottom in the next one, and vice versa : everything takes place in an intense atmosphere. We have a general placing where competitors have just a few points of difference between them : really tight ! Today the wind has been very shifty, pushing the crews to play a maximum with the tactics, and we can assume that the options chosen have always been the key : we are in a wind chase where the point is to catch the right moment with the right wind. The incredible Wolf team with Glynn Williams and Tim Powell at helm wins the first race in front of Atalanti X, who doesn't stay with a defeat and wins the second one. Lastly, in the last race of the day, K-Challenge Two catches her first victory in the last race, and it's a happy team that we see coming back in the harbour tonight : work pays, that's a fact : here they are in the good rythm and everything may still happen ! We also see in the second race a fantastic fight between 2 former competitor's of the America's Cup : Dawn Riley and Paul Cayard, where after having leading the race, Dawn takes the 2nd place. This is also `protest day` : K-Challenge One against Cavale Bleue for a priority problem, same for K-Challenge Two VS Atalanti X... The jury is still working on it at the minute, but it's important to notice that Cavale Bleue may also lose its provisionnal first place in favour of K-Challenge One... another parameter which may change the general placing which is full of suspens. Tomorrow, the sun will finally be back, mistral wind will blow and is very promising regarding surprises. Teams are ready to put all their heart in the last races, and all their energy; we already know that the level is pretty high, the point is now to know how they're gonna behave and see their final place, anyway everybody decided not to make pronostics any more !
